Dear Men, Let’s Play!

It’s 4:15 am on #IWD2019. I can’t sleep.

  1. There’s much work to be done.
  2. There’s momentum, and it needs to equate to action.

On my 18th IWD as a social-impact entrepreneur, I live a life where my job and my calling collide: Moving women down the field in Corporate Canada and beyond. My organization, PowHERhouse, is a specialty team to mobilize women until we are no longer needed.

Sonia Furstenau said it best yesterday, “We must not accept that it is enough to succeed in a man’s world. It’s time for us to rewrite the rules: our collective goal should be transformation to a world where everyone can truly thrive and meet their full potential.

Can we agree that our collective End Game is a culture of leadership where everyone feels seen, heard and valued?

PowHERhouse believes that every leader deserves the opportunity to make a world-class impact.

If so, where to next?  Here’s where I’m going, and I’m inviting you to step onto the field with me*:

Find our common goal. The one that unites us that we are equally committed to as a priority. How about this one?

Canada’s biggest demographic wave in history is inching towards retirement as we approach 2030. Companies are scrambling to ensure talent pipelines are well-prepared with a diverse group of future leaders. Are you who you need to be to attract the talent you’ll need within the next decade?

Create a sense of urgency. I think that’s pretty self-explanatory (see above).

Develop a clear path, and move the ball down the field.  I call it, The Leader Path.

Okay men, we can’t do it alone. Let’s play ball!

*and all of the amazing women who have come before me and surround me at this time.

PowHERhouse is national women’s leadership accelerator born in 2000 out of a desire to provide a clear, direct framework for a leader’s path. Success is measured differently for everyone, but The Leader’s Path exists to ensure that each one of us can meet our potential and lead deeply fulfilling lives. The Leader’s Path provides a strategic way to move forward in the same way an athlete follows a particular path to meet his or her goals.
